I noticed several people had posted on problems they were having getting Dreams to play on their Desktops, so I went hunting and found a utility (I love Utilities!) that might just help in finding which CoDecs they have and which they need to run the Dreams on their systems. The fact that it does a lot more only added to it’s usefulness.
VideoInspector Version 18.104.22.168 might just be the tool you need to get the reason why those gorgeous Dreams aren’t doing what they should.
VideoInspector is a tool designed to provide you with as much information as possible about your video files.
VideoInspector helps you to find out why some video files don't work correctly on your system (no sound, no video). It identifies the codec (coder-decoder like DivX) required to play a specific file.
VideoInspector can also list all the codecs installed on your system, burn your video files on a CD/DVD (requires VSO's CopyToDVD: Get it HERE), export the result in a text or HTML file, and process multiple files at the same time (batch processing).
You can check the listed Cd, Dvd and Blu-ray readers and writers connected to your computer, check the firmware used. The details about the media used and the speed supported by a given writer with this media.
This is a real “plus”: You can scan a burnt media for read errors and be confident about the readability of your fresh backup!
It’s available in many languages and has an online interactive help. Also, VSO is going over to CUDA technology so be on the watch for updated software in the future (depending on your vid/sound card).
VideoInspector will help you installing the required CoDecs (coder/decoder software) for an optimal performance.
VideoInspector can also inspect your system to find which codecs are available, and it can also process multiple video files and export its result in HTML or plain text files.
