My Ship Designs Aren't Loading into my Game

I didn't know if this was the right place to post this or not but;

I just created a couple of ships using the Ship Designer option on the main menu; 1x Huge, 1x, Medium, 1x Cargo all with no components on them. I saved them all as Templates.

Now I went back to the game that I currently had in progress which was the same race as the designs. I checked all the tabs in the Shipyard; Ships, Templates, All, Core, User multiple times and they weren't there. The Cargo Ship should atleast be there but it wasn't. I pressed the TURN button once, suspecting that the game needed to refresh it into the list but that didn't work either.

I then tried starting a new game and right off the start, the Cargo Ship is in the list. Is there some sort of procedure that I need to do to get the ship into a game already in progress? Did I forget to do something in the shipyard? Am I just screwed over? I wouldn't mind rebuilding them if they weren't complex designs which already took me several hours to build.

In a word, no. Ship designs that were made outside of an ongoing game will not appear within that game. You'll have to start a new game as the appropriate race.

Either that, or you'll have to make your ship designs within the game you are currently playing.

thanks people. Luckily the game is still fairly new but starting over will cost me some good planets that I was able to colonize. As I said, I would rebuild them if they weren't such complicated designs.

I know this reply is late. I think it works like this:

When you start a game, the game checks to see what ships meet the criteria to be shown in the shipyard. Saving and loading a game will not result in a re-assessment. It will not re-asses your available ships again until you complete a ship-related research, sans newly created designs created within the same game. When it re-assesses your ships available, you must have all the techs used when you created said ship (don't forget the miniaturization level); and be the same race, unless you picked another race's ship designs at the begin of your game. Also, metaverse ships are kept in a separate folder, so they will not be available in non-metaverse games, and vice-versa.

Exception: Somehow basic Stardock-created ship designs often have a life support system in them that you do not have the tech for. If you do not delete this in your upgrade design, the upgrade design will retain it too. However, it is just a waste of space, as it is non-functional until you achieve that tech.

Comment: I have had to re-create many of my early game ship designs as I later restored my game from near the start, and then did not have said designs immediately available.
