I remember this from years ago. Tried it single player and the AI cheats so hard it's painful. They can do a bazillion actions per turn, get blatantly better production, and psychicly predict events. One turn all the AI changed all their production to food for some reason. I was baffled...until an event that turn hit that increased all food production! Unless I'm mistaken and the events are actually fixed, that's going a little too far.
Thats because you have to turn on "Show AI Development" in the settings so that they have to move around like a player. Without it on the AI can do up to 10 plot adjustments. The only flaw in the game right now is netcode priority. Which to my knowledge is being worked on. Try it again with the above tweak. The AI is smart but not when it comes to buying plots. The AI has been through a few passes already and they have a guy that came in to work on it and get it where it is now. Playing with real people though it's a great little game. Use the bots to warm up (they can still beat me) then jump in a game with real people in the lobby.
Technically it's the first RTS ever made and it's still fun
I'm Avernus on Planet Mule if you ever want to play a game. I'm only ranked 900ish so Im not that good.
Also production is random to a certain extent. Depends on the land and the random event and then the random production. In Mule it pays to be last until the end of the game. Jumping ahead early will only get you in trouble. Position at the end of a turn is calculated by assets and money with assets being worth more in general. Keep trying it's good once you set the AI properly and or play with real people.
