I just re-installed GalCiv2 and GalCiv2: Dark Avatar and attempted to start a game under Dark Avatar. I customize a gigantic galaxy and create a custom race. When I finished setting everything and hit "Next" it comes up with the screen which, as I recall, usually lists what the CPU is doing during map creation, and it says "Loading" at the bottom. After about 15-20 seconds of nothing, it crashes to the desktop with the following error. It's consistent and happens every time at the same spot. I've tried different races and different sized galaxies, but it's just failing hard.
My Specs:
eVGA nForce 650i motherboard
Intel E8400 Wolfdale
Windows 7 Professional x64
eVGA 8800GT w/512MB
Troubleshooting I've tried:
Updated my video drivers from 191.xx to 195.62.
Uninstalled and reinstalled both Dread Lords and Dark Avatar.
Tried going to the DA install folder and running the GC2DarkAvatar.exe program directly.
Tried the above after setting compatibility mode for WinXP Pro w/SP3.
Tried giving GC2DarkAvatar.exe "run as administrator" privs.
Tried doing the same for Dread Lords. It has the same issues with the same troubleshooting.
Neither game is working. I've played Sins of a Solar Empire and Sword of the Stars on this system without any issues (other than I didn't like them, but that's not a technical issue, heh), if that means anything. The crash bug error is below.
