Crash to Desktop (CTD)

Help wanted sob

I bought Galactic Civilisations Endless Universe, on a Disk, German language. After installation I played GalCiv EU and Dark Avatar all right, but when I started Twilight I got a crash to desktop every time. I can start a game, choose all parameters, opponents etc, but when the universe is created i get a crash to desktop. i tried to change parameters i.e. number of opponents and size of universe, but that had no effect. any hints anyone?
