Mac or PC?

i know its an age old question

 

..but im seriously thinking of getting a mac instead of a PC which I have been using for years...but before i part with a small fortune for either,I want to ask you guys what it is you prefer between the two and why.

 

Any advice would be welcome.

My whole family has Macs and they have been trying for years to convert me.  When I have to spend a couple of days cleaning malware off my machine, I am sorely tempted.  However, at my time of life, I am not sure I have enough time left to really learn a whole new method of computing.  I agree with Philly0381, buy the computer that turns you on.  I just ordered a new Alienware machine with Windows 7 on it..  I'm going to play now, pay later!  We all spend too much time with our computers to settle for a rig that doesn't make our heart sing and our fingers fly.

Mac tend to be expensive with software options (although GPL geeks are starting to make some great software available). They also have limitations for hardware expansion. But they are so easy to use, OSX is a dream and the software runs very smooth.

It really comes down to what you want to use it for.

For me I choose a PC over a Mac because I like to swap and change hardware around and like to have the flexibility with the software I choose to use, especially now Windows 7 is out, but that's a personal opinion.

I would suggest you to go to your local Mac store to get a demo on how they operate. They are fun to use and who knows you might want to go that way.

Take your time and shop around

Whichever....it's a box.

If the box runs the programs you want it to...then get it.

If the other one does....but this one doesn't...then get that one instead.

All else is "Us and Them"...."my dad's bigger than your dad".

Although I imagine with Bootcamp, parallels desktop, VMware Fusion and others the point is probably moot.

I use PCs because: I can afford them, I learned on them, I use them at work, all my home software is PC,

and if something wears out or breaks, I can replace it myself and not have to bring it to an Apple store.

But that's just my opinion

Others have mentioned software, and that is my main point.

If you switch from a PC to a Mac you will need to buy all new software, unless you go the Bootcamp route. Which means much more expense than a simple computer/OS upgrade. You could end up paying more for the software than the computer and OS, depending on what you need to use.

Even then, you will need to reboot the computer into Windows to use your current software (which may or may not run correctly under Bootcamp). And that really defeats the purpose, I would think, of having a Mac.

 

IMO, the only reason to switch from a PC to a Mac is if you had to use software that was only available for a Mac.

That is, if you wanted the more economical route. If you have money to burn and want to try a Mac, go for it and see which you like best.

Mac exists on snob appeal. Comparing the great unwashed 100s of millions who use  Pcs to a few million Mac users is nothing but the mouse that roars. The high customer satisfaction Mac taunts in the face of the poor souls merely reflects that the thousand bucks more it costs Mac users surely aren't going to admit  disappointment that there are no miracles in their little box.

I want to try one too . I don't want to buy one before i don't tried one becuase my computer is faster than any Imac but i cant Run Mac Os X on it. And they're look awesome and they're fast easy and stable but i dont really know thats the truth. I heard they 're really noisy expensive slower than the pc and needs a lot of electric power so your bill gona be higher. But there are more positive things about them. And i saw a movie called Silicon VAlley about Apple and BIll Gates stoled a lot of things from them so maybe they are better. Can I try one ?

I used to use a Mac and I loved it. But I like games. I got frustrated by the limited availablity of games for the Mac, and the cost of Apple machines (not to mention the cost of the games!). For a fraction of the cost, I bought a PC and never looked back. In the past six years I've purchased two PCs for the price it would cost for one Mac. And with the money I saved I bought a ton of games. For cost of ownership, you can't beat a PC.

Pc is the best for computer gaming but console gaming is better lot of game creator concentrates on them its bad for the pc gaming. I have a Playstation and its awesome. But i like to play on my pc and on a mac you cant play the newest games and cant run a lot of old ones.
