Twilight Of The Arnor speed problems

I'm not sure if this belongs in bugs or not.  When I play Gal. Civ. 2, or the first expansion (I'm using ultinate edition, so I have all three chapters), the games run just fine.  Problem is, when I run Twilight Of The Arnor, I get major slowdown (even if I have the graphics turned all the way down).  Mostly happens when there is a lot of stuff on the screen (or when I'm in the ship customizer).  If I center the map on an empty spot in space, it runs much better.  I have the latest version of Direct X, and the latest drivers for my video card.  Any Ideas?

If you have an old or integrated video card, you will want to disable the enhanced ship rendering and mixed VP mode options. These can speed the game up on newer hardware, but if it's old it can have the opposite effect.
