Between uninstalling and reinstalling did you running a clean up program similar to CCleaner and then reboot before reinstalling.
When things start acting strange with Impulse, what fixes it a lot of times is to open Preferences and click on Reset Data. It does what it says and prompts you to restart Impulse. If that doesn't work check to see if you are running the beta version. If so unclick it and see if it changes.
