New Guy Question

Hey all,

Just a quick question,... I ordered the ultimate edition on-line and am waiting for it to arrive here on my ship( Im in the Navy) and was wondering, when it arrives and I install it will it require me to go on-line and validate with some BS DRM or will I be able to just jump right in. Like I said Im on a ship and don't havew access to the net for long periods of time. I undestand I won't be able to update without the serial and all that but will i be able to play it right out of the box. I ask because I ordered MASS EFFECT and was disappointed when I paid 30 bucks for a game I can't even play until I hit a port, eventually it will happen but it just sux that I paid for something and can't even use it

Can't wait to play this game so i don't want to get my hopes up just to be disappointed again

Stardock is fairly lax in their DRM. I never had any problems with validation when my internet stopped working.

Just install, keep a close watch for salty water on keyboard, throw in a few hours of spare time & start shooting down Drengin's best outa space.

And, if by some odd bad luck the code complains about verifying serials online or otherwise (ET phone home!) you could always go upstairs to bother Captain & crew enough that they head on out straight for Michigan Lake (you'd be passing less than 30 miles away from where i bunk north of Montreal's harbor!) , drop the anchor and aim biggy guns at StarDock building in Plymouth threatening to blow it all up unless they confirm everything *now* while you're still on that rather unique & efficient top-secret portable_cellphone of yours.

Since there are several variants of the Ultimate Edition running around at this point, including the Ultimate Bundle digital form direct from SD, all I can say is so long as you've gotten a boxed version, you can install and play it immediately without an internet connection. You're correct that you won't be able to update without one, but Ultimate ships with the latest versions (at the time) anyway, so it's not very far behind.

LMFAO!!!!! thats too funny!!, although being an "I.T." in the Navy, i don't see much salt water,... or light of day for that matter, we are all tucked away in "top secret" hush hush spaces filled with noisy servers, so this game is going to come as a relief from the mundane day to day around here

For what it's worth, I bought both ultimate and sins yesterday and installed both on a machine that is strictly offline, no problems at all.

Already a helluva lot of fun BTW - haven't quite figured out how to fit more playing time in around work and a 2-year old
