I just saw it this morning too. It looks flashy, but I really don't know about the young actors, will have to wait and see.

To be honest, though, it's a sad day when Terminator Salvation has me more excited than Star Trek. (though it's close!)

I've always been a fan of Star-Trek and I always will.

I'm 35 years old and I grew up with the reruns of the old episodes then I fell in love with TNG which I loved for the eye candy and for Patrick Stuart which I still think is the best ever Star-trek Captains.

Then the last 2 seasons of DS9 really got me going with the darker side of the federation and the war.

And now this new movie seems to be going that way once again the dark side of Star-trek, I say about time!

This new trailer looks incredible I can't wait to see how it will turn out. I hope it will be great so we can expect a new movie again.

I'm really curious to see exactly how this movie plays out.  I mean, I think its much more intense than I originally suspected it was to be.

Its kinda hard to imagine that after STARTING with such rough times, kirk could ever be the least bit intimidated by anything later.

Also, does anybody know if this is going to have 1st generation klingons or klingons as seen in every star trek series afterwords? (except deep space 9 that actually had both when they travel through time)

The story in the movie realy does seem intense, Iam looking forward to see how this new cast of actors will work out. I hope they will have the same chemistry that made the original cast so enjoyable to watch and memorable.

The "dark side" of Star Trek? According to this trailer, an enlisted man will be made captain of a starship. This is like a seaman on his maiden voyage being made admiral of a BattleShip.

There's nothing "dark" in that. DS9 would never have done anything so nonsensical.

Honestly, that's my only real beef with this take on Trek (anymore. I've made my peace with it otherwise). If they weren't forcing you to accept something like that, I wouldn't mind.

I can easily see somebody stepping up when you really are in need.

In DS9 you could never had something like that because Trek is so well developped if you will. But back in the times of Kirk and Spock, there was this cowboy diplomecy that was alive.

 I can easily see a seaman taking command when all else fails. As long as everybody else know what to do you only need somebody that can see the big picture. There have always been great people in the world, they step up from nowhere and show us things nobody expected at all if the need is great enough there is somebody that will take up the mantle. I guess it's ok by me if it's not common.

I actually really liked Nemesis. It was much better than Insurrection. Sure the plot in Nemesis was a bit convoluted, but at least it wasn't half love story half space hippies

oo, a scene depicting spock's birth, what about ponn farr?

seriously the first 10 secs of the trailer, was from a previous trailer

oo, a scene from starfleet academy, always wanted to see more of that place

and that end battle scene, dude, even enterprise-e's damage hits was much more cleaner, than fire in space

Funny eh, SF, starfleet academy looks better than those of the tos, tng, and ds9, and probably voy, if you ask me, that looks like enterprise's starfleet (btw has anyone see enterprise's ship, they look much more better than tos's enterprise, and have a design similar to steamrunner?!?! I thought steamrunner was late 23, 24th century, and enterprise was suppose to be in the 21st, but i digress), larger, cleaner, and definitly more building

another thing the logos on their shirts, they look much thicker than those of tos and the clothing looks much more developed than those of tos

and this my final rant on the trailer, so here it is, the ship !!!!! what is with the corridors, looks curved and have shinny black floors, when did starfleet have shinny floors?!?!

This is the first time in about 20 years that I will be in the theater when this trek movie comes out. Looks great! Reboot or no reboot.

It better have a VERY thick storyline to seek my teeth into or i'll slam the theater doors in May forever on Paramount attempts at fitting Star Trek to the current market of 15+ years old for quick cash.

Spectacular is fun, it sells BO tickets that's a given. But the Trek franchise as a whole is much more classic or complex than any supplemental directors or writers could add to.

Prequel trends or not, btw.

It certainly looks like NCC-1701_much_less_than_A (or is it?) takes a hell of a beating with as many space debris thrown by an extremely strange foe (highly experienced actor in Eric Bana, btw). Just Sulu & Uhura get some slick scenes... does this all translate into a coherent & significant exploration of a pivotal past is another story (pun intended) though?

Forget the heroe (Kirk or not, btw), i say. Think of a crew with something to prove to Starfleet and they'll most probably get some of my attention and money. In the meantime, i'll reserve any 'other' comments for much later and only once i've seen the entire stuff.

These characters exposition snaps really did seem to fit the contract, so far.

Magic is back - it even has facial scars to prove it.

Utopia Planitia and/or orbital starports were at the time tooooo far away even for a warp capable prototype.
