GalCiv2 patch 2.0 / 2.01 via Stardock Central?

Why isn't it possible to get the 2.0 / 2.01 patch via the stardock central like usual? I can't run impulse since it crashes at the start on my Vista system. Why do I have to use a buggy program suddenly instead of the much more stable Stardock Central?!

Impulse is the new SDC. Try the full downloader here:- Impulse Client - Full

If you still get an error, post a new post about that.

because 2.0 is basically a freebie, sort of a bonus only available to impulse

because SDC is a heavily patched application which would require additional updates to support the 2.0 update and all the new galciv2 versions (UL, EU ...)

stardock team is also encouraging players to contact support/forums for sorting out their problems with impulse

I guess it could be understood as a way to encourage players to move to impulse from SDC, since SDC will be dropped overtime

It does seem like a bit of a strategic error to have forced the Sins and GC2 communities over to Impulse before the platform was reasonably stable and bug-free. The comparisons with the proven, stable SDC platform are inevitable and invariably unfavorable.

sure I agree, but when you look at stardock, they need to go on and improve impulse and they don't have the time & money necessary to upgrade SDC which would just go to waste anyway since SDC will be dropped ...

my solution is to wait for the next version of impulse before upgrading, that is .. unless I get impatient...

I tried the full installer, but it didn't make a difference, it still crashes at the start. I guess I will have to wait for a new version to be able to get the 2.x patch. (Sigh!)

or emal : support@stardock.com so that they can help you fix your problems with impulse
