Do whole threads get "banned?" (deleted)

The "Getting 3 Habitable Planets In Your Home System" thread shows this morning still on the recent posts list on the home page, but as of last night it is not accessible and does not appear in my My Replies list even though I did reply.

I was keeping an eye on the thread b/c the "exploit" described seems like it might be a scoring problem for tiny map players and I was hoping one of the leaders from the two Solar lists at AltMeta might chime in.

Is this a forum bug, or have I just finally noticed what can happen when a thread descends too far into flaming, ranting, etc.? Things seemed perfectly peaceful last time I viewed the thread.

p.s. Still can't get paragraph spacing for an OP made from Opera. Ten thousand more curses on the browser warriors.

It was hidden from public view while the issue is being dealt with. I'd expect people to know better than post about exploits publicly, but I guess not everyone thinks about the consequences of their actions.

So much for the theory of some people that Stardock wouldn't bother to do anything about this exploit.

Wow. I try to be a mannerly fellow, but I'd not have hesitated to make an OP like that if I'd stumbled across the behavior.

How can I tell when I have a good question to post on the forum vs. something I should discuss in email or PM?

If it's something like that that's obviously unintended and can give a notable advantage in metaverse games, PM it or send it to gc2bugs.

I was only going by past experience. When something like the MCC, which was a HUGE exploit/advantage was allowed to go on for so long, I didn't think something as (relatively) trivial as this would get an 'all hands on deck' type of response.

Yup. The rub here is the central judgement call. With a peanut gallery this varied, the devs have a very wide range of opinions on what an "obviously unintended" behavior might be.

And then there's the corollary problem of folks like me who have a sketchy relationship to the whole scoring thing to start with. I'm pretty sure I still haven't played as many MV games yet as I have played straight sandbox ones. Thankfully, the Gerontocrats have a nursing staff who make sure we hit the right button when we start new games these days...

The MCC was known since DL launch (at least), before I was on board to keep an eye on the place

First I'm glad someone else asked about that tread because I too wondered where it went but didn't know how to ask without actually bringing it up again.

I'm glad too that its being looked at. On any size map, its cheating.

As far as when to know what to say or not. It can be hard to determine that. I don't know if I've even seen anything that's an exploit but I've even kept some questions to myself that could lead to people taking advantage of a game mechanic that isn't supposed to be.
