crash to desktop after trying to view tech details on tech tree

Hello, I get a CTD everytime I try to view tech details on the tech screen. I've looked around the forums but I haven't seen anybody else with a similar problem. I've reproduced it on my brother's computer, so I'm rather curious as to whether or not other people have experienced the same thing. I can't find an error log in TA's directory. Both my brother's computer and my computer are running Windows XP in chinese, could this possibly be a problem? We live in Taiwan and don't have access to a legal copy of Windows in English. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks a ton!

Hrm, no sign of bad dxpacks, but just to be sure, have you also updated GC2 and DA to the latest versions on SDC?

Also worth a shot to try setting your regional settings in control panel to US English (only effects decimal settings, mostly).

Yeah, I downloaded them all from scratch both times.

I don't know if this will help, but I received an error message that read something like:

The instruction at "0x3F9994F4" referenced memory at "0x0000001B". The Memory could not be "read". Click OK to terminate the application. Click CANCEL to debug the application.

It showed up on my laptop, whereas the crash on my brother's desktop was just a crash.

Any idea what this could be?
