New Extreme Planets?

Any way to make new ones?

I was wondering if it was possibe to make new extreme planet types ie lava, frozen, etc.  The inspiration for these new types comes from the original master of orion.  If this is possible then I would make corresponding techs to research to make these planets colonizable.

I doubt this is possible.
I think you would have to wrtite some lines of c++ code and recompile the game

Planet types are hardcoded, unfortunately.

Hmmm, you don't have to actually change the extreme nature of the planets just every description refering to type and the icons representing them, rename the techs that sort of thing. Not sure if all of the ingame references to them can be changed or not though (ie the popup tool tips for them)

Yea I got to thinking about it and it would be quite a bit of work in several area to make the changes, but if it was for a total conversion it probably wouldn't seem like so much next to all the other changes one would be making. Sounds like a cool idea especially for putting the extreme planets within context to fit into a mod's "world". Next time I get the bug to work on my mod I'm going to have to remember to take a look at what all it would take to do this.

What I would like to see is to simply move the teraforming techs around so that each has different requirments in the game.

Easy. Just change each techs tag in TechTree.xml .
