So yesterday I was playing Twilight on a medium size map and all is going well. I had just about crushed the evil Drengin and I had set up alliances with the Terrans, the Arceans, and the Altarians. I was at the same time in a shooting war with pretty much everyone else.
So then the damn Terrans declared war on the Altarians. It was at this moment that I wished there was an option to try to talk these two down from going to war, based on your diplomacy or something. The Altarians had been so nice, so I couldn't screw them over, plus I think Eleys has a thing for me.... Anyway, the Terrans were quite powerful, so a war with them would be tough. I did the not so smart but good thing of sticking with the Altarians against overwhelming forces. I helped them as much as I could but eventually Eleys surrendered her worlds to me. After that I was stuck with pretty much everyone in the whole damn galaxy hell bent on destroying me. I held on for a long time, but eventually a damned spore ship snuck all the way through my front lines and zapped Texas, my manufacturing powerhouse. It was over for me after that.
So yeah, I think it would be kind of cool if you had at least a chance of talking say two of your allies down from going to war and picking sides. I took a reputation hit too by being forced to declare war on the Terrans who were my allies.
What do you think? I'm sure it's too late to be considered, but still.
