Modding Super Abilities?

Is it possible to add new Super Abilities?

Hi,

This is my first post on this forum. I'm very impressed with the amount of new ideas that can be added into this game. I've been able to get new race logos, new race portraits, new racial abilities, new ship styles, new planets, ect ect. However, i'm curious if it is possible to create new special abilities and if someone has done it.

Also - it is possible to have "special" ship styles for a human player specially made race, rather than only a CPU player specially made race? I've noticed that when creating a new special player for me to control the special ship styles i have downloaded do not seem to work.

I believe the special abilities are hard coded in the game so cant be altered.

As for a special ship type, try creating a new hull type that has a very high cost - and give it to your own race from the beginning.

Then give the new hull type a specific tech requirement, again with a new tech with a very high cost which you give to your race from the beginning.

It won't prevent other races from aquiring them. But it will make it most unlikely that they will within any particular game time.

Also, giving anything (be it hull, tech or whatever) a tech requirement of IMPOSSIBLETECH will make it impossible for any race to get it, unless they steal it. So that is another option in modding a unique tech for your particular race.
