Reminders of things that are currently on-going in the MVL.

The Surrenders Vote is still up and running at the Core; we've had a decent turn out to vote. If you haven't yet, please do soon.

Neilo announced his upcoming resignation as Commissioner of the MVL. Mumblefratz, Iztok Bitenc, Wyndstar, Ghostwes, FireBender, and Silverbeacher were nominated to replace him. As of today Ghostwes declined his nomination. FireBender, Mumblefratz, and Silverbeacher accepted the nomination. Iztok Bitenc and Wyndstar have not responded.

According to what I have for players, there will have to be shuffling around of players as some teams will have 6 players and others only 4 (eg Bladerunners have 6, Villainy will have 4). As such maybe this isn't a bad time to look at the Draft, especially since Neilo is still Commissioner to help mediate.

As for rules, we still need to decide the course of action to take on submission time/rankings. We had talked about it a little bit but never came to any conclusions. I'd like a formal decision for Round 7.

Round 6 ends tonight at MIDNIGHT EST (the time on the Forums). So far I have no submissions from TGE, C-Mac, and Haart. I have received preliminary scores from Mumble and Neilo. Scores will be finalized sometime tomorrow I'm sure.

We are still working on incorporating into the AltMeta. As a friendly reminder to Mumble, we are waiting on a write up. If there is anything anyone can do to help, please let us know.

If I missed anything, please let me know so we can add it to the agenda list.

Not very impressive, but I will be able to do better for round 7

Actually one thing we need is a policy on what to do with ties related to team bonus points. We were lucky and haven't had one yet but we actually came very close to this happening this round. I would tend to say those ties should probably both get the points but some teams seem particularly adept at manipulating ties for the best effect (you know who you are ).

  

I just posted in the sign up thread. I figured it would be too late to be entered on a team for this one, but I played a quick game this evening anyway and this is my game submission to show I'm actually intending to be in the league (required if I understood the sticky MVL thread). If this game would be useful for one of the teams,please feel free to retroactively assign me to a team.

I apologize for not knowing how to post screen shots; the game is the only I've submitted under the JustinSane5 account. Statistics are as follows: 0 years, Suicidal, Military Conquest, Tiny, Very Evil, 12,600.

Fine. I agree if we do need one it's best to get it over with prior to elections.

One point I do want to make is that this should not be construed as setting the precendent of having a draft every 3 rounds. They only precendent set is that when the numbers dictate it we hold a draft and reorg. Like any decision this is always open to change anytime the league wants to do so.

Also using the same tiebreak crtieria for teams that we do for individuals makes perfect sense to me. In this case I would take that to mean that any ties for Team Speed bonus or Team Score bonus would be decided by the two teams relative performance in the "other" bonus criteria.

One other point is that we (by we I mean Kzinti and I) did seem to agree on my post #271 summmary of MVL voting rules. Also no one has mentioned any objection to that summary. I think one could reasonably conclude that this constitues league wide consensus on the matter.

However, I am a little loath to make such a global assumption without some discussion about when it is OK to do this versus when a vote is required. Certainly the voting rules cover that a vote is required once someone makes a motion to vote on something that is seconded by two people.

I also like to avoid bureaucracy where possible but clearly there should be some kind of controls on the process of simply posting some proposal and then after some unspecified period of time (in this case 5 days) declaring that since on one objected this is now an official rule of the league.

Since we have never done this before I would like to hear at least a few folks weigh in and say that they're OK with the voting rules as listed in my reply #271 of this thread.

Also it might me nice for folks to weigh in with an opinion about the process of "assuming" a league wide consensus.

I mean Ferrel’s tie of Iztok was impressive as well but to manufacture an "extra" bonus point by tying for fourth place speed was genius. I guess most credit goes to the tie-er as opposed to the tie-ee, so hats off to you FB. Excellently played.

Certainly. As i had said before, my goal was to have each season be no less than 5 rounds. Of course that is always up for debate but 3 rounds is not nearly enough time to flesh out a champion.

After looking through the player list and this post of mumble's....



I find that i'm not sure we need a draft after all. With the addition of JustinSane4, we have but only move one player from team c and place Playjeff, JustinSane4 and the removed player. The time and confusion the draft will create is not worth it unless we are creating a new team. Which in this case we will not be.

I know i am contradicting myself as i too thought we needed a draft but i feel a draft should only take place when we are creating a new team. With that in mind and since i am drunk with power in my last few days as commish i do the following.

I hereby take Letherin from the Celestial Crusaders. I will now randomly place PlayJeff, Letherin and JustinSane4 into the A-Team and Domination firstly and then the last player randomly into any team.

Playjeff is on the A-Team.
Letherin is on the Domination of Death.
JustinSane4 is also on the Domination of Death.

Don't crucify me guys but i really think that is a far better way to go about the teams than a draft at this point. I did start to write up a post for the draft but i soon realized that without bringing another team into the MVL it was not worth the time and effort at this point.

We now have,

A-Team = 5 players
Blade Runners = 5 players
Celestial Crusaders = 6 players
Domination of Death = 6 players
Eternal Villainy = 5 players

If you guys really believe that all of the above is unfair or unconstitutional in any way, we can always still have a draft. Lets just get on to the elections and start another round.

Now onto elections.

I call the nominations for the position of Commissioner of the Metaverse League closed.

To move the elections along i am taking some liberties as to how the election will be run. Endless discussion will only delay the election.

I wish to call for a volunteer to assist me in the tallying of votes. This person will be required to check and recheck all the pm's we receive and to tally votes. The volunteer must not be a nominee. Both the volunteer and myself will be privy to all members votes. Voting will be via pm to me or the volunteer. Your vote will be private and known only to me and a volunteer. All players of the MVL are allowed to vote, and i encourage you to do so.

If any of the nominees wish to make a final campaign speech please feel free to do so. To give everyone a chance to read and reply to this the voting will not commence until the 21st of this month. The vote shall last for 1 week from that date or until all players have cast their vote, whichever occurs first.

Once you have pmed either myself or the volunteer your vote we will reply to you that we have received and noted your vote. No further action is needed.

Once the vote is complete i will post the votes for each nominee and officially hand over the position of the Commissioner to the newly elected nominee. Please remember that no captain of any team may hold the position of commissioner, so any team that finds it's captain the new commish will have to elect amongst themselves a new captain.

Should Mumble be elected commissioner i feel it is in the best interest for the MVL to allow him to hold both the office of commissioner and of rulebook keeper.

Should Silverbeacher be elected commish i will call for a volunteer to be the offical score keeper. This role will include some work so please make sure you have the time to dedicate to this position before taking it on.

Should FB be elected to the office of commish it is my desire to see the nominee with the next amount of votes elected Vice Commish. Should this not be the wish of the MVL then by all means a run off vote could be held.

Sorry for the long post guys and the ensuing confusion it will have brought.

I just thought that i would take a minute to say that i feel all three nominees would do a fantastic job and do the MVL justice. Given though that i must choose i echo my nomination of Silverbeacher. Let's face it, he wants to be the President of the United States..and that job is nothing compared to the Commissioner of the MVL...

That's fine with me. One major thing out of the way.

Since PlayJeff was on team D and presumedly knows the private forum password and Letherin was on Team C this means that both Team C and Team D should get new passwords. Each captain should PM Tech (Technician) at the Core and he will do this for you directly.


Excellent summary and very reasonable choice of contingencies based on outcome.

A reasonable, take charge, coverage of the issue at hand like this results in far less confusion than a lot of discussion. Unless there is some major flaw in the plan (and I don't see any) a minor tweak is not worth the potential discussion. I find this plan to be perfectly satisfactory.

I don't really feel the need for a final campaign speech, my effort on behalf of the league and the metaverse should be well known to all. But with that said I honestly don’t think the League can make a bad choice here. Silver would also make an excellent commissioner, if not this time then perhaps the next. FireBender too has put in a lot of effort for the benefit of the league and although I think his youth has in some cases gotten the better of himself, he would still make a fine commissioner now or in the future.

Sorry about including you Motti, i do recall some talk a while back about your possible absence from the MVL. I do apologize.

In light of that, i propose moving a player from either the Domination of Death or the Celestial Crusaders to the Eternal Villainy.

Since JustinSane 4 was the last to be assigned earlier on, i would suggest we move JustinSane4 to team E. If there are no objections to this i will consider it a done deal.

Again if someone can post or pm me about helping with the elections we can be sure to hit the ground running once the voting begins. I was happy to do it all myself, but i would rather two people be involved in the process for transparency.

This sounds suspiciously like someone involved in tax preparation. If so good luck during your hectic season.
