Welcome all to the sixth round of the Metaverse League!

Firstly congrats to the round 5 winners, The Eternal Villainy. Well done on a hard fought victory! :CONGRAT:

Please welcome to the league CraigHB, Wyndstar, CalifDude, Idazen and Haart guys, our newest MVL players.

CraigHB has been assigned to the Domination of Death (DoD), and along with the return of Noctilucus to the league and indeed to the DoD rounds out the DoD

Wyndstar has been assigned to the Blade Runners, please make him feel welcome!

CalifDude is on the A-Team and Idazen the Crusaders.

Haart, i have placed you in the Domination of Death.

There has been some discussion as to the selection of appropriate games in the event of a MV submition but no MVL submition. This is close to being resolved and the new rule will be posted here very soon.

On to round 6.
We need a Military Conquest in a Tiny galaxy with 2 opponents.

Settings are as follows,

Habitable planets - Common
Number of planets - Occasional
Number of stars - Rare
Star Density - Scattered
Anomalies - Abundant
Asteroids - Uncommon
Tech rate - Normal
Minors - Random (DL)
Check - Super Abilities (DA)
Check - Allow Surrenders
Check - Blind Exploration
Check - All Victory Conditions
Uncheck - Disable Tech Trading
Uncheck - Mega Events (DA)
Uncheck - Disable Minors (DL)

SB, I take it from this post that it is the date stamp in your MV games record that determines your submisson rank, rather than the date you decided to submit the game for MVL record, provided you made the submission before the Round ending date.

no, the order your final game is posted in this thread determines your submission order. i actually don't know why they want the MV timestamp.

To be able to properly check the game record in the MV against the info posted here. The MV numbers your games in the wrong direction, so the timestamp is the only 'primary key' with which we can identify the game in retrospect.

Take a look, the newest games are always game #1, meaning they get added at the front of the list. If they were added at the end, the game number would be valid as well, but a typo in the number is more likely than one in the timestamp.


(At least it's the only PK available to us just from looking in the Metaverse.)

yes, Pndrev is correct. Without a screenshot (not necc, I've never posted one myself) its the only way I can quickly check games. It is a little easier with people that are only posting one or two games a round but for some players, who play multiple times, it can be a pain.

Again, this would all be solved with the Altmeta :D or at least, I think it would. Hmmm....maybe I should think before saying stuff :LOL:

Unfortunately... I was aiming for a faster game with the Korath (the previous game is one of the few I've ever played with the Arceans) but I ended up with exactly the same score in spite of a totally different approach.

i think, and if im guessing on your two divergent strategies, and others can chime in to clarify if they want, but...using Spore vs PI in such a fast game means, unless your like the Big Guys, a loss of social score vs military score. Usually with the Korath u can kick out a few more stronger mil ships but you have no population on those worlds you are taking. With a race like the Arceans, you get a decent mil but you have to focus more on the PI techs and ships so you lose out on the mil score. At least, that's my guess on the matter.

Perhaps. I had no military score and I played Korath for my entry. Why build military ships? They don't contribute enough of a score boost early for their cost.

on my attempts at the game, on suicidal, the AI was building ships with decent (7 usually) missile attacks by may or june. i had to build ships just to take em down.

Ah, I thought you were suggesting Korath could make up a score differene by building military ships.

Now in longer games on larger galaxies, go go military starbase spam. But for a 0 year game?? No way.

You don't need them at all if you hit the AI early enough.

well that had been my plan LOL, but even with constant slider fiddling, an all lab approach, etc etc, i could usually get the tech(s) i wanted early enough, just couldn't pump out enough ships fast enough; it became a trade off really.

it would have been nice if i had had some decent research bonuses on my HW or an actually useful world nearby; c'est la vie

Yeah, no plan survives contact with the enemy. I can't count how many times I would pick a set of bonuses planning on playing the game one way and my home planet and/or starting worlds would end up dictating a different strategy.

I barely got the win in 2 years, Immediately after I knocked off the Iconians, the Korx jumped me and my forces were out of place. I used my last transport and was down to 5 medium ships. Bonus - It was my 50th win with that character.

Just about the Korath, I did need some military ships next to spore ships since I only managed to take out 1 AI during the opportunity window; the terran alliance already built some weak ships, colony ships and transports when I moved in on them.
