There's so much concern about the game I've posted, that I need to ask this: is it forbidden to post another game for the same round? IIRC I haven't seen that in the rules, but if it is, then I'm revoking the game I posted. It has been late evening and I've been mostly fooling around, testing what can and what shouldn't be done in a real game.

It is against the rules that a single player may make multiple submissions to the league. You may play as many games as you wish and submit it to your metaverse character but you may pick only ONE game that represents you in the league for the round.

Yes we do only allow 1 submission to the league. But do not worry, we have given lee-way to new league players that may still not understand all our rules. I could see your game was not intended as a submition as could most of the other guys. It is just a fine line to tread is all mate. All is well, submit when you are ready. BTW, have you dropped around team e's private thread this round, Silver normally lays out his game plan there at the start of each round.




Each team has a private forum over at the core, check with a team member for the password. Also each team does have a thread here too, but i don't know if many of them are active.

The answer is always *both*. Post one of each to the MV and then decide which one to submit based on how the round appears to be shaping up.

there's a little background to this topic, Iztok, that you might not be aware of. Wyndstar and other newer MV leaguers, it might also be useful for you to read this quickly.

btw, welcome Wyndstar! no use getting all ahead of myself without properly greeting another new member, especially such reknowned GC2 players

so here's the gist. basically newer MVL players (myself included, when i first started) have a pattern of posting games onto the current round's thread to show off, or out of excitement, or to make sure they can get the process down, or for whatever reason. however what we usually don't realize is that game data posted to this thread (or the thread for any current round) is considered an official and final submission to the league, which is a problem if the game itself wasn't a "real" attempt.

we're currently working to integrate the MVL into the AltMeta to streamline this and other processes (well, i say "we" but it's really Mumblefratz, Kryo and a few others doing most of the work). while things look promising, it's also slow going.

so for now, the forum threads are what we have. among other things, the single submission rule makes things much easier for the score keepers as each player has one and only one game posted onto the round thread.

i'm not sure why the 1-submission rule existed at first, but now i think it works well alongside the fastest submission time bonus because it forces the teams/players into an interesting strategic dilemma: it is better to submit early and secure the team submission bonus, or is it better to wait and have a better sense of what the scores/times to beat are?

so anyway, no harm done. if there was a lot of commotion about your "training" game, Iztok, it's only because we've had this issue occur a few times before, and it can always be somewhat discouraging if you find out that you accidentally submitted a sub-par game when you were only messing around.

So here's my official game:




Despite bad starting location I've been lucky with home planet: a 300% research and 300% production tile with a 100% morale tile. It was such a nice combo I went with the game, despite I started quite far from both AIs, and without good planets close.

I've also been EXTREMELY lucky with anomalies: collected about 3800 BCs from them, so my treasury went below -500 BC only at November, when I had both Iconians and Humans down to a single planet, and medium hull with 6 lasers in the neighboring square (both lease-bought on neighboring spored planets). Despite I've been running taxes at 79% I ended the game with ~800 BC negative and income -60 BC. But here it is.

You beat me to the punch though. Seeing as avg submission time IRL is taken into account I just decided to go for the fastest victory possible.

This has been a humbling experience. Just goes to show ya, getting gold in Metaverse is one thing, making a high score in MVL is something entirely different. My hat's off to you guys! In any case, I had a blast with these settings. Here's my submission;

After losing out on the 1 year victory by one week i managed to massage some score for what just might be my best game ever....From playing challenging and tough prior to the MVL and now to be winning on Crippling is awesome!!!

Wow how good is that...and yes, i am happy.

Still have no idea on how you guys can get a 0 year win though..i tried but i broke myself every time...anyway here is my submission.

Like I said, the competition for the fastest game will be fierce. Seeing wyndstar's game I just started wondering if my game will actually get a point for the fastest game, because there are only 4 points for 4 fastest games :NOTSURE: . Maybe aiming at the highest-scoring game wouldn't be such a bad idea? The first place there's IMO known, but there are 3 more points to gain...
