Well into the game Lord Kona contacts me, after many a war with me, asking for this tech. The only problem is....

That's a known glitch for quite a long time: AIs can talk and trade WITHOUT having UT. When I play them, I can't.

I have wondered about that. I suppose that they can trade with you since you have the tech but perhaps not with the other races that do not.

I wonder if anyone has ever tried never researching UT? Would the AI ever research it themselves and offer it to you? I have met other races that have either researched the tech or got it from someone else.

Playing with tech trading turned off makes talking to the AI less important but I wonder how it would affect the IP meetings.

Should probably try the cheat to switch to playing Drengin in that game and see if you can talk to anyone at all.
