Drath - How to manipulate others

I'm playiong the Drath for the first time and i want to use their superability but don't know how. I tried to get the Drengin to attack the Korx, I went to the trade screen and just picked attack then th korx and the Drengin Ambasador just told me i don't have the might to make threats.

So where and how do i use my maniplation ability to get a race to attack another?

You can talk them into go to war for cheaper than other races. So you'll still need to place some money or such on the table for them to go to war.

I've just started a game with the Drath, and I'm finding that I'm able to bribe races to start wars for +/- 1000 BC, which I don't think is too bad given that I'm setting them all on the Korath (turns out that even the Korath have some trouble when dogpiled by Torians, Iconians, Korx and Yor all at once), as well as occasionally on each other, and raking in +/- 500BC a turn from War Profiteering, and on top of that capturing all those resources I missed out on at the start thanks to slow expansion.

One tip, is never to let them get too friendly, as then they're not eligible to attack each other. Keep them wary of each other though, and the galaxy is your playground.

With uber-terraformed planets covered in recruiting centres and trading centres, plus trade and war profits, I have the money to play the Drath exactly as intended, puppet-masters of the galaxy. Only war I've actually taken part in so far has been conquering the Paulos to get that juicy second homeworld/econ capital, and until the Korath are weak enough to be given the coup de grace, I plan to keep things that way. I'm even able to invest the maximum in espionage, making me even more shadowy and manipulative.

Heh, Torians are so much more disposable anyway.

The only question I'm still pondering (as I haven't gotten much gameplay in since the holidays) is if the War Tax affects War Profiteering or not. If WP is bringing in a % of the races final income, then perhaps I won't want to have a War Tax, as that'll be less money for me...

Hmm, interesting, it hasn't come up at the UP yet but if it does I'll see if it has an effect...

It was an afterthought for me a bunch of rounds later after the tax was invoked. I saw my income and swore it was higher before, but I don't think there was a savegame from before the vote.

Both the Korx and the Drath in TA gain techs or projects (super or galactic I forget) that will earn them a percentage of money while races are at war.

I'm assuming this percentage is the races' full income or perhaps money after spending (this I'm not yet sure of...thus my question about the UP war tax).

As the Drath, I had every race, but me, at war with each other and I was pocketing over 1k a week in war profits. In essence, while races are at war, you are supplying them with goods to keep them going...for a price.

On the other end of the stick though, I haven't noticed if the money comes from thin air, or if you'll see it in your spending column while your at war and the Drath/Korx are in the game (or at least their prospective techs that gain them the funds). I'm not sure of this as the game I played with the Korx I hadn't gone to war the entire time, and the game with the Drath I didn't take notice when I was at war.
