Do bear in mind though that the final version of sins will have much more and more detailed textures. I'm not so sure you'll be able to pull off Highest with a 600 level 256mb chipset (8000 or otherwise), but High at least should in theory do ok.

You can generally get more desktop for your money than you can laptop (plus a desktop isn't stuck with those same specs for life).

I'm planning a new machine myself and what cost $1500 six months ago is only $1000 now (exclusing case, since I'm getting a high end one ... cheap ones are $20-30, or you can reuse an old one)

Intel Core 2 Duo T7500 2.2GHz
1 gb of ram (upgrading to 2 gb)
Nvidia Geforce G8400M 128MB

i know all the pros ans cons of this notebook buti was just wondering if with these specs cani run sins?

aladrian that Asus would certainly be a very good purchase. The graphics card is more than capable (equivalent to the Nvidia 8600) whilst the rest of the spec is highly competent.

Eteri equally good specs in terms of processor and ram, but the graphics will certainly be the weak link. You'll be able to run Sins, but don't be surprised if you have to lower the resolution, unfortunately. However for things like football manager it'll be great

sadly its only avalible in g, not GS or GT, just G, i looked it up on wikipedia (yes i know it may have false info but...) and it says the moblie version has the models G, GS, and GT (not exact words)
but what r the differnce between GS and GT and G (if u know)?

Basically Nvidia cards go from GTX to GT, next comes GS with G being the lowest model in a range. Each version is basically a cut down version of the one that comes before it (so parts that were present on the more powerful version are removed so as to save cost).

From what i've read the G version is barely even capable of running the latest games. Hence it is likely that Sins would a, look horendous and b, hardly work. What makes the choice of graphics surprising on the Asus you were looking at is the fact that it's Santa Rosa, i.e in terms of its processor it's cutting edge, but unfortunately they've fitted such a horrendous graphics card. However, this may be the compromise of having such a small laptop; you do seem to have to end up paying a premium for the best graphics if you want a small laptop.

Depending on the power you want, you can start somewhere around 100$ -- more money nets you more power and a longer "lifespan" of usability.

my notebook dealer says that he can upgrade my ram to 3 gbs, sweet!!
