Absolutely not. A couple years ago my cousin and her twit friend stayed the summer here, and I awoke to find them on MY computer (this is when it wasn't in my room). After that I immediately put it on lockdown, couldn't do anything without logging in with my password. Now that it's in my room I don't have to worry so much, but if I'm going to be leaving I enable a password protected screensaver.

I am kind of protective over mine (it's newish and expensive), but if someone needs to do something on the computer, that's fine (they should ask first).

Right now one of Adrian's Soldiers has had to come over every few days to print paperwork out and make copies since he's PCSing and living in the barracks. No big deal.

Yes.  When I go to visit the in-laws, they let me use theirs.  I see no reason to not allow them (and others) to use mine.

There is a computer in the livingroom for just that purpose. Which is hooked to a 32 inch LCD HD TV. It is XP Pro and has a guest account for people that come over and need to use it. The wireless network is completely secure and managed from spyware and/or virus. So is the guest account too. It is kind of like what I have for my kids also where every website they go to is logged to the network. Thus I have a record of everything that reaches the wan-net.

So the answer here is yes we do allow guest to use a computer here and are well equiped to do so.

Ah...the time I had two firies staying with me for the F1 GrandPrix ...and we were taking turns with the game 'Driver'....the poor old Thrustmaster T2 seized.  Too much heat/friction/movement for what was simple plastic bushing in the wheel axis.

I never go anywhere without my laptop, so I'll never be "that guest"

I have 5 systems in the house. My main system(off limits to all), my server(off limits to all), my work laptop(off limits to all), my wife's system(she has been known to let the nieces and nephews play kids games on it), and the guest laptop(open to anyone to use as long as they follow my basic rules of no porn or file sharing). I am running Ultimate on guest laptop and use the complete system backup to restore it to a fresh install monthly.

Why God made Guest accounts.

For the longest time my Guest account had a DX kiosk-type desktop designed by me that let the guest use IE or FF.  That was it.  Worked like a charm.

Not in a million effing years...no way no how does a visitor/anybody touch my rig...and if they don't like it they know where the door is. I've invested to much time, money and effort in getting this baby exactly how I want it to risk my twit, porn loving nephews coming along and stuffing things up....which both are likely to do as neither can find their arses with both hands and directions. And for that reason they know better than to ask.

So to avoid confusion, there is no guest account, never has been never will be, and the same rule applies to all....a blanket no effing way so I don't get 'but you let so n' so use it'
