Out of Memory Errors in 1.8c

I am still getting out of memory errors in 1.8c on saving games. Happens on both huge and gigantic so far (only two sizes I've tried so far). I have 2 GB RAM and 6 GB swap file on Vista Ultimate 64-bit. I really should not be getting out of memory errors. When I check task manager for how much memory DA is using, it is ever only about 1.5 GB.

The same thing is happening to me too. I don't understand why this is happening. I upgraded to 1.8c on saving games. I have 2 GB RAM. I am running Vista family Media. I should not be getting the memory errors. When I check the task manager too I am at around 1.5GB too.

This Bug is keeping me from continuing the games. How can i fix it? I have brought down the graphics quality to half. But for a game like this I should not have these problems. I play Civilization IV, and I do not have these problems. What can be done to fix this issue?

I upgraded to 1.8c on saving games.

The latest is 1.8f (Available in the sticky about fixes here in the bug forum, upgrade to 1.8e off SDC first).

Have you tried using the Heightmaps package and reducing the planet texture variety setting in game? That one setting alone probably has more impact than any of the graphic settings, memory wise.
