So I got the demo of Galactic Civilizations II from PC Gamer sometime last year, and installed it on my computer (which has windows XP). I liked it, and after hearing more positive reviews from a friend decided that I would purchase it. I downloaded the GC II Gold demo today on my new laptop (which has vista) to see if it worked, since I had seen that there were sometimes problems with vista. It gives me the following error when I click on the setup application: "C:\Users\Owner\Desktop\GC2GoldDemo_setup.exe is not a valid Win32 application."
So, what do I do? I'm at college now with my laptop, so buying it for the old computer isn't really what I want to do. I might try updating the drivers, but I was under the impression that outdated drivers caused in-game crashes, as opposed to startup errors. Not to mention that I bought my laptop at Best Buy in August or late July. I might buy it anyways for my old comp, but I would much rather be able to play it more than 3 months a year if I did. So probably onto Medieval 2 Total War if I can't figure out what to do, but I'd rather my gaming decisions didn't revolve around what works on Vista and what doesn't.
