Ok, is the terror star going to be just a ship with a weapon to destroy ships, or are they going to moon sized battlesations like the death star? I've read that Terror Stars destroy stars, but what effect would that have on the planets in that star system? Would those planets die? And if it can destroy stars, does that mean that It can destory individual planets. I can see how there would be situations were you would want to destroy individual planets, but not whole star system. Are you going to be able to defend from it. Are there going to be technologies later on that let you maybe build a synthetic star to replace destoryed ones?
-While there are probably no answers to my question, I was just wanting to hear some opinions. Thanks
Terror Stars are starbases. There are some special modules that allow the starbase to move at 1pc/wk, give it the ability to destroy star systems, and the ability to survive those explosions. These modules take weeks to install - unlike normal modules which are immediate installations.
As with any space ship or structure, a Terror Star can be attacked. It will inevitably be armed with as many Starbase Fortification modules, Repair Bays and Battle Stations as possible, but as with any starbase, it won't be able to defend itself in the long run.
No, it cannot destroy planets individually, but it can destroy planets by destroying their stars. It is expected/hoped that the planets get converted into asteroids or anomalies.
As for other ships - I don't know. Probably they'll get destroyed, and you'd probably have to retreat your escort fleets to a safe distance before firing the killer shot.
See the Star Wars Expanded Universe's Sun Crusher space ship for what a solar-system destroyer would be like. It used Resonance Torpedo missiles to destabilize star cores. The Terror Stars use some kind of beam weapon to do that, although I'd like it if you could choose between missile-based, mass driver based, and beam-based Terror Stars rather than get stuck with these beam-firing things.
Synthetic Stars? Probably not. There's no point, since there are no survivors. Like Spore Ships, the only way to defend against Terror Stars would be to shoot them down. And since they're so slow, you have plenty of time to do that.
I have a feeling that a Terror Star destroyed Arnoria - after all, it is Twilight of the Arnor, and the box does have a Terror Star on it, and according to the story, nobody has ever found Arnoria. So I guess that's what happened, that's how the Arnor were destroyed. And since the Dread Lords escaped to Amalda, they're still there.
