After watching a Science Channel special about the Earth getting hit by a comet, I had an idea.
What would our future be like if that happened? According to the scientists, the initial dust cloud would linger for about two months, and temperatures would return to normal after 200 years or so.
I figure humans would be more concerned with themselves then with others. We would have been trying to take care of number one for atleast 100 years before we could return to any kind of normality. But we wouldn't be heartless, we had to work together to get through such an ordeal, so we'd be set to a Neutral Alignment instead of Good.
I also figure most of our technology would be set back alittle. However, we'd probably be better adapted to hazardas environments, hence a boost to colonization techs (probably cold planets, maybe poisonous, and maybe a lava planet).
The terrain of Earth would also be different. In the Science Channel special the comet hit the Yucatan and turned most of Mexico and Texas into a burning lava field, and turned the southernmost states (Florida, Georgia, Arkansas, and Louisianna) into swamps and shallow lakes with a tidal wave.
Because I don't have DA, I don't understand the way the planet maps work, and I'm already working on another mod, I think someone else should pick this up. I just didn't want such a good idea to go to waste. It would probably take an experienced modder only a few days. You could even use Formis6's rugged human race portraits for the new Terrans.
Anyway, what do you all think?
