How to get a (minor) race to declare war on you?

I admit, they are right when calling me a warmonger, they are right when they say I have a tendency to conquer others, but still I hate being shown the truth.

So: how do you get a minor race to declare war on you?

With the main races its not so tough: park a few warships/troopers around their planets, build a few influence starbases and demand gifts and stuff.

But all that doesn't seem to be working with the minors.

and after taking out a few minor races I have always the double-minus in my relations with the main civs, so I got no other choice than to war them all at once (usually when I declare war on one finally, the others all jump in) and getting an alliance then seems next to impossible.

So: can you force the minors into declaring war on you somehow "efficiently"?

If by "efficiently" you mean "not parking influence starbases outside of their planet until they flip to you" then I don't got an answer. If you cheat and swap to another race, have them pay off the minor race to attack you maybe...but the word 'cheat' is in there.

I think the biggest actor to get them to attack you is for them to have a bigger military rating. There isn't much reason why a minor race w/ two fighters will shoot across the bow of an entire armada of battlestars. NO amount of money makes someone that dumb.

I guess if you get lucky and all the minor races are the same alignment as the Alterans, a simple 2 birds with 1 stone plan may be in effect. you'd still register 1 war, but at least more races will jump on the wagon w/ that one.
