I just bought GalCiv2 last night via internet and got it all downloaded (even the heightmaps). Anyhow, I randomly get game freezes. Not CTDs, but the game freezes up on me... I can move the mouse, but can't click anything... after trying to Alt-Tab or Ctrl-Alt-Del for a while, the pointer freezes up too, and I have to do a hard reboot. When this happens, I do not get a debug.err file. For example, it just happened to me at roughly 8:50pm (pst) on June 20th, and the only debug.err files in my directory are for June 19th.
My system specs are
Windows Vista
Intel 2.4gz Dual Core
Nvidia 8600 GTS
Soundblaster Xi-Fi (don't recall exactly which model)
4 gigs of ram
Nothing on my system is overclocked. I have all the latest drivers that I'm aware of (I for sure have the newest Nvidia drivers). My pagefile/virtual memory (same thing, right?) is set on automatic, although I did check it, and Vista uses 3+ gigs every time i've looked at it.
It has happened in both campaign mode and on a "new game" mode (medium size galaxy, 5 enemies and me). Any help would be appreciated, as I love this game (borrowed it from a buddy, fell in love, and bought it 30 minutes later).
