HUGE CRASH

Hi everyone, I have a serious problem with my Gal2 gold edition: after 10/20 minutes of game, a weird graphic appears and then the game and the whole damn pc crash!
I have already downloaded the latest version of drivers for my 7600 GT, but now I don't now what to do...

Help please?

A couple of things you can try:

+ Delete your prefs.ini file (in /my documents/my games/gc2darkavatar ) or rename it.  This will reset your options settings to their defaults.

+ You may also want to try re-installing.  Your debug.err file shows that there were errors loading the campaign files.  These files may be corrupted.  Reinstalling would make sure these files are intact.

Notice your are running in Italian - not sure if that language has issues with GC.

Also may want to try an upgrade on your video drivers.

BTW, fyi this is the debug for GC2 Dread Lords - if you are running Dark Avatar Expansion you can find the debug.err under that folder.

after 10/20 minutes of game, a weird graphic appears and then the game and the whole damn pc crash!


What exactly does it look like when this happens? Just from this brief description, it sounds like a hardware issue.

All the sudden the graphic seems to be good, but many multicolored lines appear for a few moments on the screen and around the cursor, the music stops for a moment, then it return normal but i really can't do anything. Not Alt+F4 nor ctrl alt del
Is there a list of the uncompatible video cards?

It wouldn't be a matter of incompatibility but rather one of the video card overheating or somehow failing. If you don't have throttle frame rate enabled in the game's options, you should try enabling that option as it can help if it's overheating.

for now the temperature is 54C°, so it's perfect.

But, the temp will go up once you are in the game. Checking it when it is basically idle won't tell you much.

It could also be a cpu overheating problem as well. Do you have the case fans fully loaded up? And I also installed a Zalman cpu fan just because of this game. My cpu was getting pretty hot because the game pretty much keeps it between 50-100% while playing, which generates a lot of heat. Installing that fan brought the cpu temps from the mid-80C range down to the low to mid-60's.

there is a problem. Yes, another.
Since the program crashes suddenly and without possibility of return to windows, I can't even check the temp.
I think i'm simply screwed.

EDIT: runned the game in window, the cpu temp deadly go from 55C° to 70C°, creating the crush. Thank you for analized and focused on the right problem. Now i got to use some trik to lower the heat

Nope. The problem isn't in heat. I just cleaned the cpu's radiator and fan and the temp lowered by 10C°, so now it's ok. The only question now is: WHY the hell it still refuses to work? Please, help me.

I already cleaned all for good, there is NO heat. I launched the game in a window and checked the temp. When it crashed, the cpu was only 48C°, and all other parametes were good.

Since I can't get any answers on my thread, has anyone been able to do anything to fix the buffer overrun error? Ive already sent my info and posted several logs over https://forums.galciv2.com/?aid=155313#1235958

I am running the demo version by the way, if I can't get it to stop erroring I doubt ill bother with the full version...
