Well hello all.
It is with a certain amount of sadness that I must bid all of you a fond farewell, at least for the next couple of months. One of my cases is going to trial, and the last settlement conference didn't produce any movement on either side. It will probably take me 2-3 months minimum to finish (and win) this trial. This is a singularly all consuming task, but it is why I get paid the big bucks (j/k)
Anyway, while doing the final discovery, preparing witnesses, and actually conducting the trial, I won't be able to be around at all - I'll barely be able to see my family. I really want to thank all of the people I have gotten to know on here, and who have helped work with me to break down various aspects of the game (combat, economy, etc.) I thought about listing people, but decided I didn't want to risk forgetting someone. I'm guessing you know if this is farewell is aimed at you.
I plan to try and stop in for less than an hour once a week to continue to update the Tournament I'm running. I have a few games started, but chances of me finishing them for the tournament are about zero, so I won't be posting any more games. I have greatly enjoyed the tournaments so far and everyone's participation. While I can't force anything, I'd like to ask that the Metaverse Council take up running tournaments when my current one finishes in May in my absence. Too bad, I think my reign over several AltMeta catagories is about to slip away into nothingness as well.
I was really looking forward to test playing the beta and hammering out the game balance and existing bugs as Stardock releases new patches for 1.6. Looks like I won't get that chance, so I'm counting on all of you in the GalCiv2 community to be very thorough in putting the updates through their paces. Hopefully everything will work perfectly when I return
Also, I want to extend a special thanks to Frogboy and everyone at Stardock for this amazing game. I had come to believe that nothing would ever unseat XCom-Threat Unknown as my favorite TBS of all time, and yet I'm amazed to say it has slipped to #2, Dark Avatar now holds that distinction. This is an incredibly immersive and detailed game.
I do plan on returning, but I can't set a date. Thanks again to everyone. It has been great chatting about this game we all love. I wish all of you the best in all of your endeavors, in this game and in life.
Sincerely,
Wyndstar
