It is a good idea to set taxes low to get 100% morale but you don't need to set them to zero! During the colonization phase (and beyond depending on the galaxy size and tech research rate) I work on building up my economy which means growing my population and boosting my economic and morale bonuses, so I can raise taxes while maintaining 100% morale. I never drop spending below 100% as that is a sure way for you to fall far behind the AI at the higher levels.

the same way that SimCity 4 taught me to be a Republican:

I never played on a gigantic map, I'am afraid starving in pijama for about 30 days by doing so...What I mostly liked in Tom's diary is the idea of making your people happy with let's say less taxes and this is what I'll try next to find out about the benefits. Shouldn't over populate the planets, that's true, but a high moral generates cash as well.

PS: SimCity4 fan too: less taxes for the rich, so let them come in your city...

OK, there are three people who can write GalCiv walkthroughs. Brad. Sirian. And this guy. Totally different styles. So hilarious.

They opened negotiations and suggested I donate 132 billion credits and the Universal Translators technology in exchange for my 'continued existence'. I ammended the terms of the deal to them giving me four and a half trillion credits, their entire military fleet and their homeworld, in exchange for shutting the hell up. They impolitely declined.

Uh, did anyone else notice this line:

" So we got talking, or I got talking, about what lay beyond the seven-hour game I'd just finished in reviewing an expansion pack for a game very few people bought."

Okay, sounds like this guy didn't even do the most basic homework. Unless the #1 selling software title for a few weeks at Wal-Mart doesn't count.

Even if the UK sales were off you can't make that claim without a mention of the chart topping US sales.

I really enjoyed reading that! I am interested to hear what had happened. From what he wrote in the ending, I think I have an idea. This said, he just made me want to play a gigantic galaxy I think I only played one of those once and it was before DA expansion.

Yeah, by 'very few people' I meant 'very few of our readers', since that's what you're worrying about when you're trying to justify playing it for two days. And our readers are in the UK, where it sold slightly worse than "Engie Benjy: Time For Team Work".

The diary is still ongoing - I'm on Day 9 now - so those of you who enjoyed it do swing by again.
