Program Stop

I can not progress past the second mission in the DA Campaign. A small Vista window pops up and sais "Galactic Civilizations Dark Avatar has stopped working. Windows will close the program and notify you if there is a solution." I am then taken back to the desktop. I have all the updates installed and this happened before any mods were installed. I have a eGeForce 8800 GTS graphics card and have updated the Vista drivers. Anyone have any suggestions? At this point I can not restart the mission or continue on in the campaign.

Inability to continue campaigns under DA 1.5x3 is a known issue, and should be fixed when the next patch is released.
