Crash to Desktop after Turn is finished

I just bought the game a couple of days ago. I'm in the middle of my first campaign, and the game started to drop to desktop (no error message) about every 10-15 turns. This started happening after a few hours of play.

It happens after the turn is finished when I press the "Turn" button, meaning it will be about to show a report or a the results of the turn and it will just drop with no message.

I had downloaded SmartException previously but it did not seem to catch anything, it was running when it crashed for this debug.err...

Any help would be appreciated in getting my new toy running

I had the same problem in my last game. I don't have the debugg.err anymore.

It was a gigantic galaxy with all options set to max. Autosave and AA off, and i use the hardware cursor.

Maybe the memory is full, and it is a memory problem? There were over 5000 ships at this time in the galaxy. Maybe its to mutch?

Hi,
I removed the autosave feature, and I think it helped, but my game ended before I could really say if it stopped the crashing (I lost to a cultural victory, no idea why the Thalans' influence quadrupled in a single turn and took over half the galaxy) . I noticed an option to change the # of turns between autosaves, so I'll try that.

However Speedy, my galaxy was a "small" with 5 races, and I have 1.7 GB of memory, I'm not sure if it has something to do with memory......
