CTD in DA Campaign

Hello,

I just finished the "A Nightmare on Dithir" mission and continued to the "Return of the Dread Lords" mission, but closed the game right after the mission loaded. When i now try to continue or restart the campaign mission i get a CTD. If i load the last save of the "A Nightmare on Dithir" mission and proceed from there, the next mission seems to load normaly. I also noticed that, for some reason, i can choose between DL and DA campaign now?

Any idea.

Try disabling antialiasing and see if that helps.

I had the same problem Kryo and my system always has antialiasing turned off...

But on top of the crash it was not showing the drenging for the next mission, but the Terran Alliance. And why is it showing both DL and DA campaigns now in DA?

Please post your debug too, then.

Have you manually altered either Drengins or Terrans? If this happened to you under the latest patch, you might also have accidentally played the DL campaign, or there might be some sort of bug causing a mix-up of the missions.

hello kryo,

turning antialiasing off didn't work.

When i first select the DL Campaign und proceed to the first missiondescription, but go back to the DA Campaign befor starting the DL mission, i get the same behavior ´like Angelon. A nearly empty missiondescription for the "Return of the Dread Lords" mission and the Terrans as the playing race??

What do you mean with "Have you manually altered either Drengins or Terrans"? If you mean the .customracexml files, there are one for the Dregin Empire and the Terran Alliance, but i didn not edit them "manually".

Hello,

I deleted the "Dark Avatar.campaignsav" and the .customracexml files and i could restart the whole campaign (but again could choose between the campaigns). When i load the "A Nightmare on Dithir" mission and finish it, everythings broken again after leaving the next mission and trying to continue it.

anymore ideas (please   )?

Hi!
When i now try to continue or restart the campaign mission i get a CTD.

I too had problems with continuing mission. IIRC I resolved it by starting a normal game, exiting to main menu and clicking "Continue campaign".

I deleted the "Dark Avatar.campaignsav" and the .customracexml files and i could restart the whole campaign (but again could choose between the campaigns). When i load the "A Nightmare on Dithir" mission and finish it, everythings broken again after leaving the next mission and trying to continue it.

anymore ideas (please )?

Did you select the DL campaign before you tried to begin/continue the DA campaign? There does appear to be an issue with that (The DL campaign is indeed supposed to be available there now). If you give it another try, make sure you do not click on the DL camapign at all.

Maybe thats the problem, because the DL campaign is always pre selected when i open the campaign window. So in some way i, by default, click it.

But i will be able to try all that in a few hours.

I assume this means that i cann't do anything by myself to fix this.   

Would it be save to continue from the last save, since this seems to work, or will my campaign be broken afterwards?

Dunno if related, but ships coming out of Colonies, with the colony set to send them to a Colony Rally Point, sometimes forget where to go, and I must manually tell them. Happens later in a game, about the same time as the crashing. Most go to the rally point, but about one a turn doesn't, and waits for orders. When I check the rally point for the colony itself, it is correct. The ship just didn't go.

Getting CTD's on turn end also.


The debug you posted is from GC2, and indicates the game was exited normally. If your crash was in DA, make sure you get DA's debug instead (under GalCiv2\DarkAvatar). In either case, make sure that you grab the debug immediateoly after it crashes. If you start the game again, it will erase it and write a new one.

You appear to be overclocking, with a A64 3000 @ 2.4? If so, I'd suggest dropping down to the standard speed and trying the game, just to be sure it's not OC-induced memory issues causing your crash.

If the problem persists after that, please install 'SmartException' from the free stuff section in Stardock Central. Make sure that SE is running and start your game as normal. If the game crashes it will generate an exception report that can be emailed to [email protected].

Include with the email a description of what you were doing at the time, how to reproduce the crash if possible, and a zipped save if applicable when you send an SE log to gc2bugs. The devs cannot help if you do not provide these details!

If SE does not automatically pop up and prompt you to send the report when the game crashes, you can find it at C:\Program Files\Stardock\SmartException (it will be the newest file with a .CRA extension).

I don't have any clue how to overclock/underclock/normal clock a computer, so I cannot fix the speed thing. To be honest, I don't see the reason to adjust complicated things on my end to get the game to work correctly.

I am not good on computers, and the SE thing seems confusing to me also. Sorry about that. I will just pop in now and again to see if you guys find the problemn that is occurring for some of us at turn end. The game is super easy to update, so when a problem is found, I will be ready. DL has not crashed once on me, so I will still be playing the game!
