Okay, after some reflection from yesterday, I feel I must 'apologize' in a way. Forgive me Wheeloffire, but I've got to do it... please don't banish me from the EoS!
First let me say that I have a strong sense of 'Nationalism', not racism as some would see it, so please don't go there. So when I see deterioration of our language, culture, or whatever you wish to call it, I might get a little miffed. Since both sides of my family came from 'the Old World', Italy and Ireland, I was raised with those ideals when it came to the family moving here and becoming 'American'. Back then it was about really becoming an American, both culturally as well as philosophically. This was why the indoctrination ceremony was held so near and dear to so many immigrant's hearts. They were becoming a part of something bigger, an idea larger than themselves. Whatever they could bring to the table to better our existence as a country was welcomed, and they wished to share it. This is one reason I sometimes perform as a Grammar Nazi, even though I screw up from time to time in my grammar and it's proper use.
Second, I am used to Wheeloffire's attitude and strangely enough do enjoy seeing him in action. Couple this with the fact that he's been mia for a while, and well, I guess I missed his style. So for me to see people jump on him (and trust me I am not a fool, I KNOW Wheel doesn't need my help with anyone!) I attempted to 'come to his defense', even if I wasn't that successful (seems my 'flaming' power has waned a bit in the past few months). I guess what I am getting at is people should learn to have thicker hides than they sometimes do, regardless of who is right or wrong in the situation.
Third, this is where Wheel is going to puke, I do feel an apology is in order on my part to all of those who don't speak English as their native language. I cannot speak any other languages so I do have to give credit to those of you who can. English is one of the toughest ones out there from what people say, and all the little subtle 'uses' can be quite confusing, even for a native speaker. I often forget or overlook this fact when reading here and need to remind myself of this more often. So again, apologies to all the 'foreigners' who participate here. I somehow underestimated the effort that comes with speaking more than one language and give those of you who can proper credit for being able to do so.
Finally, for those of you reading who are native English speakers... you do know that you are still on the hit list, probably now more than ever since a portion of the community has now been absolved of their crimes, at least by me.
