I downloaded Dark Avatar the day it appeared and have been playing it heavily ever since (as my wife can tell you). But over the weekend, I suddenly started having some performance issues, with sluggish and jerky displays, and even problems editing the text.
I was ready to submit a bug report -- and then last night I tried to watch a video I had downloaded via iTunes. When I opened it up in an iTunes window, it was unwatchable: skipping frames, etc.; however, if I viewed it fullscreen or opened it up via QuickTime, it was just fine.
Came back to DA, checked my options, and saw that I had unclicked 'Fullscreen' in video at some point. I hadn't noticed this because (for whatever reason - it may be the 1440x900 resolution) GC:DA wasn't appearing to be in a window.
I don't know if the source of the problem is MS Windows, my video drivers (I'm having trouble getting updated drivers from the ATI subsection of the AMD site), or something else, but if you get people complaining about DA suddenly performing poorly, you might want to have them check that out. I've included my initial DxDiag info below as a reference point.
Outstanding game, by the way; easily beats everything else out there. ..bruce..
