I have a mind-bendingly annoying problem in the Galactic Civilizations II Gold Edition. The game works flawlessly on my computer but for one minor cosmetic detail: the text in boxes on things like the main menu and ingame interface does not show up. The race and tech descriptions are visible, but the game is very difficult to play without a functional or visible interface. Can anyone help?

I have uninstalled and reinstalled several times and even installed the game on an old computer. The missing text is visible on my old computer but the game is unplayable due to the ancient graphics card.

I have checked the debug file and it says that several files cannot be found. How is this possible with a new game on a new computer?
