DA Engines and Speed Change

I've been reading the forums about the Engine Size change and the Mega event that slows down all ships. Having not played the beta, I'm not sure what has really changed. Can someone describe what is different with regard to engins in speed? Failing that, can I get a link to beta feature details?

If you have DA, bring up the Galactopedia and compare the engine costs in the Galactopedia (which is DL) vs. the engine costs in DA. That will say it all.
