are you kidding me...
there are so many markets that are dominated by American companies that it isnt funny.
here, a list
Beef Industry
Fast food industry
Soft Drink industry (shh, I'm on a fats roll)
Computer industry
Military industry
Education industry (Its a stretch, but it can fit if you consider how many international student's we accept)
Innovation
"The Bread Basket" enough said
the EU dominates some, like say:
Wines
Cheeses
Fine metal crafting
China:
Toy industry
Production of simple parts
SK and Japan
Gaming Industry
Software Programming
as you can clearly see we are pretty branching while most other countries are specialized.
I'll have to look up in the EU market some more (I can admit, I'm not an expert on their economy), but its clearly not as diverse as the American one, why do you think our GDP per capita is so much larger? (150% of Euro's)
as for the British Empire, the only reason that cant be considered a hyperpower was because it was dealing with extreme regional competition, the spaniards, french, russia etc.
we dont have that problem really. overspecialization has taken care of that for us. we are the only country in the world with enough of a truly diverse climate taht we can bring that all together.
Exactly food and computer, no wonder the country is going no where
these are the two GREATEST industries in teh world, nothing is larger than they are. especially food
and I'm only pointing out our most concrete industries, we have branches (powerful branches) in everything, everything. and thats far more important than a few specialized branches
as for "going nowhere", where the hell have YOU been??? in a cave???
