dthif1980: There are a few things that it the welcome screen checks to ensure that the install is valid. Can you check the following things in the registry (using start/run/regedit)?
* In HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Stardock\Drengin.Net\GalCiv2, the values Path and EXE must exist
* In HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Stardock\Drengin.net\GalCiv2\DarkAvatar, the value Version must exist, and should be a value similar to 1.50.057 (specifically, it cannot be a value less than 1.5)
If some of these are not correct, it suggests that the game has not installed correctly.
If the above are all correct, then something's up - do you have any virus checking/anti-spyware tools that might be blocking script registry access? You could also try
reinstalling Windows Script 5.6 in case some other application has managed to install a very old version of it.
As a temporary workaround, you should be able to just go to Program Files\Stardock\TotalGaming.net\GalCiv2\DarkAvatar and run the GC2DarkAvatar.exe file to play the game.
I'd also be interested to know whether you were updating from a previous version or doing a clean install (I'm guessing the latter from your previous messages) and whether or not you had Dread Lords installed.
