As we get closer to the completion of the expansion pack to Galactic Civilizations II: Dread Lords (known as Galactic Civilizations II: Dark Avatar) we do a LOT of play testing.
That's where we play the game, with the game running in a window next to the debugger and play out the games.
But for fun, we also try to put together coherent stories for each game. For us, the biggest strength of GalCiv II is the sandbox mode -- where people can literally create their own universes and mythos and play out epic events.
