Hey, what gives? Any Developers out there, or what?

I've posted what I believe are some pretty basic bugs (bugs that I'm surprised to see in the game after it's been out a whole year: bugs that seem so obvious that I really am worried about what else might be in the game, given that the ones I've spotted seem so transparent, at least to me) and have yet to receive a response.

I'm not complaining, just surprised. I think this is a great game, but if the developers don't read these posts and respond to them, then what's the point of posting them? I'm more then happy to participate in beta-testing (a year after the game's release? Heh.) in order to make this game better, but if the developers aren't going to respond then I guess I'll hang it up. It takes time to post a bug.

To clarify: the errors I've found have not "crashed" the game, but they seem rather glaringly obvious to me: which worries me. Maybe they're not bugs, but if so, please, at least give that response. The Build time = Never bug seems rather ridiculous. I mean it's still there after a year? Unless I'm taking crazy pills, that bug is incredibly obvious... If it's not a bug then please let me know.

Well, you guys probably have lots to do. It's a great game, but if you really aren't going to respond to bug posts then please say so. That's your business, etc. Buyer beware, etc. But, it takes time to find and report these bugs, and if there never going to be read by a developer then it would be nice to know...

However, I really hope that's not the case because the game is great, IMHO, and the bugs, however small, always take away from the game.

Well, you guys probably have lots to do.

They may not be able to respond to every thread (especially those posted over the weekend--believe it or not the devs don't generally work on weekends), but they do see them most generally.

At any rate, the devs are very busy working on Dark Avatar presently, so while those GC2:DL issues that still exist in DA may be addressed during the course of the DA beta, others will likely wait until GC2:DL can be revisited. The dev team is very small, so they need to focus their efforts.

If you want to make absolutely certain that a report is read by the developers, you can email your reports to [email protected]. Reports sent there are fed directly into the shared GC2/DA bug tracker. Again though, while the issues may be fixed for DA, standard GC2 is not likely to see another patch soon since the devs are occupied with DA.

beta-testing (a year after the game's release? Heh.)

The current round of beta testing is for Dark Avatar only - the expansion pack, not the original game.

Sometimes Stardock will beta release a new build of the original game (v1.2, 1.3, etc.), but that's not the same as beta testing the full game.

I had read the original post (2 days ago) and I couldn't figure out what was meant.

My projects on planets always give he correct time.

I don't mean to sound jaded but like you said, it's been a year so when I see someone post something that is "obvious" I tend to suspect it's user error. I'll certainly look for what you're talking about but given no one else has mentioned anything like it, I'm inclined to think that you have no spending going on or something.

He may be using 1.31. There were some issues (more noticeably in the beginning of the game) where build times were off by about a week, and that was after hitting focus/unfocus. It didn't 'always' happen, but when you were trying to balance your econ spending to reflect getting a project done with barely enough hammers, the build times were misleading. Like, i would have the planet say one turn that it would finish the project in a week, then I'd hit turn. No report of the project finishing, i check back, and a significant portion would be finished, but not the entire project.

However, i have not taken notice to this in 1.4X.

I agree with n0v4k4n3. This was a problem with an earlier version of GC2, but is not a problem for v1.4 based on my own gameplay.

For the OP, some added info on your bug report would help out--particularly what version/build of the game you are playing.

Original bug post, Saturday Dec 16...rant on Tues Dec 19 @10am...seems to be like someone is pretty impatient out there. Only about 8 working hours have elapsed (taking into account Stardock's time zone plus the weekend). And I do credit Stardock employees with having a life outside of work!

I have version 1.4 (most recent) and was using it when I posted my bug posts. Those posts still have not been answered. I gave very detailed instructions when I posted the Build time = Never bug. Which, I might add, included a request that if it was "not" a bug to please post a reply that states why.

The other bug post was the tool-tip goes off screen bug. That bug needs no explanation, the title of the post says it all, and still there is no response.

Neither of those posts have been responded to and it's been 7 days.

It might have helped if you actually read the bug posts I posted before replying to this post: then you wouldn't need so much help removing your foot from out of your mouth...

Fungus--having re-read your original posts (which I did prior to my first reply to this post), I can find *nowhere* in your previous posts specifically requesting "that if it was 'not' a bug to please post a reply that states why."

Perhaps I missed that line in your previous posts, but I think not.

Have you followed up as Kryo suggested? In this thread you have received replys from *two* Stardock employees, both of which appear to have read your previous posts.

Seriously, though. The original poster's attitude totally stinks. There's reporting a bug and then there's throwing fits and going on tangets. Just cause you point something out, you have NO RIGHT TO DEMAND IT FIXED RIGHT FRIGGIN' NOW. If it is a bug, it will get annihilated in due time. The game, Gal Civ 2, is solid as a boulder. DA will get there, after all its in beta test right now.

Even the title of this thread is trollish. IMO, you should apologize now to the developers. They work hard. They care. They put in long hours on this game. They have fixed soo many bugs and made sure it was fun to play for all.

Right off I would like to say that the developers deserve a "lot" of credit: it's a great game, a lot of fun, and I don't regret spending my money on it in the slightest: they deserve a lot of respect.

However, I see no reason to be intimidated out of posting my concerns by the likes of you: my money is as green as yours dude (and, the original posts still have not been answered, but I can live with that. What elucidated my reply above was reading some of the replies on this thread which seemed, not only to have no relevance to my original query, but had an air of condescension. Which, even a troll would find somewhat insulting).

Whatever. Lol. I will not deny being a Stardock fan. I also try to help people when I answer. I do NOT reply to everyone like I have here. You were trollin' in the way you said what you said about SOME things. Others lines were just matter of factly. Looks like poster #7 agrees or he might not have hinted about you being a troll.

Let me first say, I no way want to impede anyone from pointing out things. Legitimate bugs or things that may be bugs. Let me point out again, that the tone/attitude of your title and post is highly. suggestive. Hello? McFly? Anyone home? (Back to the Future reference). This is where I first thought your post was OFFENSIVE. Insulting to the very persons who make the game/run this place by IMPLYING that no one is home or around or doing anything... When in fact the Stardock team is top notch at being there and these forums are the proof.

I will admit Kryo says it best in his response, telling you where to go and what to post to make sure it (bug/possible bug reports) gets to the Dev Team. While the 'team' may read lots of posts they cannot read each and every one, thats why they decided to make one big list of everything pointed out- their bug tracker.

I'm sure you didn't like what I said, but let me point out that I was just stating it matter-of-factly. "How it is". Your post at the top there came off as rude.

Your original post creating this thread was made on the 19th of Dec, where you did ask for a response. Within an hour of your post you received 1 post from a Stardock employee and 1 post from the game designer himself… A.K.A Frogboy. I am not exactly sure whom you were directing your next post towards but it came across like you had aimed it at the designer himself.

The funny thing is he stated he read the post you made prior to your statement. The other posters prior to your second post had obviously read your bug report just as I have, and made comments stating so. This is why I have assumed you were aiming the above comment at Brad Wardell himself.

I tend to suspect it's user error.

Frogboy, being the actual designer of the game, gave you an answer to your question.

Kryo went a step further and confirmed your suspicion about the employees being rather busy and gave you an alternative way to post your bugs assuring you that they would get read.

I believe the thread you started here about the other threads you created, completely fulfilled your requests and then some, before you made your “rude” comment.

Just my thoughts on this issue.
