Download Problems

Terrible ones.
Windows XP,5.1.2600 Service Pack 2
Stardock Central Version: 2.38.433. build 139
Galactic Civilizations II 1.40X.070
Using Stardock Central, I attempted to download gc2.sdc twice. Each time the download reached over 50MB, then simply started over.
The gc2.log states as follows:

Load: D:\Program Files\Stardock\SDCentral\data\public\gc2\production\gc2.xml 1
Download: D:\Program Files\Stardock\SDCentral\temp\gc2.sdc 0 | Attempt: 1 | -30 Connection timed out
Download: D:\Program Files\Stardock\SDCentral\temp\gc2.sdc 0 | Attempt: 2 | -19 Connection was closed by the server
Result: Installation cancelled

I am using a 56k modem. As you can probably imagine, I have just wasted the entire night on an unproductive download.

Stardock Central should resume the transfer, but from the error log you posted, it looks like your modem keeps losing its connection to the download servers. You may want to try the second download server instead: In SDC click Tools -> Settings -> Internet and select US-2 from the dropdown.

I too have only dial up. I have been here since Galciv 1 and preordered all the sequels. I have experienced the same problem of loss of partial downloads. It is so frustrating that it may make me forget about GalCiv all together. If you offer a 400mb downlead you ought to be able to download it it packets rather than risking total loss. Your talking about a whole days' download being lost. Fix it or you'll lose this customer.
I am waiting for a response. Not a very Merry Christmas here.
