What I find hysterical here is that this is happening in this thread... "Golden Rule" |
I was
this close to posting something very similar yesterday around noon. But then I thought, naw, the thread's on its way to correcting itself, it doesn't need any extra cynicism. Hahahaha! I've made bigger miscalculations, but they have usually involved physical injury of some sort.
I suppose it could be argued that some people want to be smacktalked-to, which literally fits in with "do unto others"... Honestly, I hope you guys don't quit sniping at each other, because I've come to count on it as part of my daily humor regimen.
However, I do want to stick my oar in here to say that treating new players that way is just out of line, even if in their ignorance they drag some rotting zombie of an idea with maggots in its eyesockets back into the light.
I know that n00b bashing happens all the time on other forums, but this isn't those forums. (Or doesn't have to be. I posted one example of the other sort in Off-Topic recently.) Ultimately, it's a counterproductive exercise in pathetic self-aggrandizement at the expense of a player who might have stayed around to become a productive member of the community, but after such treatment will probably leave for good.
Who knows, the Savior of the Metaverse could have come and gone, flamed out because in his first post he said that he thought tactical battles involving carriers would be a great way to introduce a multiplayer component.
