Galactic Civilizations II 1.4 is here!

Updated economy, updated graphics, and more!

Stardock has released Galactic Civilizations II v1.4.  The new version has some updated graphics, updated balancing of planetary improvements, a host of fixes to make modded games more robust, and much more.

You can download it via Stardock Central or as a stand alone download from the Downloads area.  The full list of changes can be found here.

Why did Stardock never announce that there was going to be a 1.4? Anyway I like suprises.

Lord Null, if you put your mouse over it, it says Planet_Defense. Must be a new graphic, I guess.

Azrune, no offense, but Stardock announced 1.4 at least two weeks ago. There was also a big debate about whether Stardock was updating too often, and they released a beta version last Friday that people have been finding bugs with all week.

Where? Wouldn't it be on the news here just like all the other news (such as DA or like they did all the other updates)? I don't have time to hunt all over this site (and other sites too) to find an "announcment".

It looks like the tank from the PAC side of Battlefield 2142, but the barrel is gone replaced by a LAZER.


It would be kool to have it on BF2142     

Anyways, it says something about "updated graphics" right there on the title descriton.

What graphic "thingys" have changed???????????

Nope, future updates are always announced in the Journals section before making it into the main home page.

FYI the thread is here > Galactic Civilizations II v1.4 Change Log

All pre-releases etc have their own change-log and are posted in the Journals section along with the devs own journal entries from time to time.

Hope that clears it up for you

PS its not a matter of not having the time, simply clicking on the journal section to see what was there would have given you the foresight to know an update was imminent. I suggest a quick click through the main button on the left to see what else you may be missing...

It's probably not necessary for the Stock Exchange to have a further boost since the Morale generating techs are more effective. I still need to download 1.4, but hopefully this weekend.

Galactic Civii is still buggy. I was playing a single game for a couple of days and just when I got to where my colonies were producing and the tech tree was nearing an end, the game started freezing up and was not able to proceed to the next term. Even restarting at an earlier save did not eliminate the problem. This was very frustrating after all the time I had spent getting the game to where i could use the latest spaceship weapons. I am now reluctant to even start a new game, because I cannot be confident that the game will let me finish what I start. I have upgraded to the latest version also and the problem still existed.

You know I had that and fixed it by letting the game save itself every 3-4 turns, and thats IF I forget, cuz I save EVERY turn so nothing is lost.

Try it out, save every couple turns and you'll be fine...

I also experienced occasional freezes even with the new patch (one time so bad that the system locked up and I had to reboot). I have now set autosave to every 5 turns, and since other complex games also freeze at one time or other I don´t really mind too much. I´m pretty confident this will get sorted out with the next patch....

But there are some odd new little bugs: When a race declares war the "war declaration" screen does not come up any more. Same happens when they surrender. Shame really, I loved their comments...

I just picked up the game and am having a hard time finding out how to multiplay. Is the game supposed to? Am I missing it? Please let me know.

I just downloaded 1.4 version. After a couple of days of hard play i have the following comment : where is the 1.3 version ????
I really dislike the new upgrade in several ways. First of all BUGS....
There are several bugs back in the game :
1) spying comments are no longer readable
2) many error messages pop up in several occasions
3) still garbled comments on both anomalies and GNN news messages... and a few more
BUT
the worst thing is that i really feel back to the original version.
Color of resources disappeared to be all grey again.
The change of technology speed makes the game feel like a turtoise with a manual brake.
AI is just unplayable even at normal level (i started a game with 700% construction bonus and i managed to colonize 5 planets while my opponents were about 10/12 already)

I m really disappointed and wondered if there s somewhere i can get the 1.3 version
which was imo the best i ve ever seen for the game.

Sorry to be that agressive but my frustration is quite big for now.

in addition i cant find the construction capital anymore....
is that a bug or a real decision to remove it ??
