The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy Mod.

Don't panic.

In the near future I am going to be making a hitchhikers guide to the galaxy mod with my friend (who will sign up to the forums soon). It will hopefully include new races, ship components, invasion tactics, random events, and a new tech tree.

If you wish to post any ideas here, they are welcome.

For now, I have assembled this.

I think the "Perfectly Normal Beasts" should be a minor race.

make the dolphins a highly educated race of space fairing creatures. and make sure to link the amount of treasure each player has to the random event of "Magrathean Planetary services are happy to announce a reopening for X amount of dollars X amount of planest will be terriformed from class 0 to class X. " O and make sure that there is the wonder named the Hitchikers Headquearters which would give increased economic and influence. Hm... what else o yea the Infinite Improbability drive could be a new tech for engines same with the rest of the other crazy inventions in the books. Ill have more stuff once i read them again

Do me one massive favour.

Please, for the love of all that is holy, go with the book or the TV version. The film was just... rubbish.

That, and the book version would have more detail in it, the film was only two hours. (And rubbish)

Although it's a very interesting premise, one I'll certainly be following.

oh definatley go with the BBC TV version or the book. If you want help with the forum or an installer. I did the installers for airsnare and the forums for smashpvp.com. Here are links.

I will be using the book for all the ideas, but it is likely I will use the film for most of the media as there is more of it available.

Perhaps there would be a way to make it act as though at the end of every turn, the ship has the effect of going through the wormhole anomaly? Would that be possible?

well. I'm the "friend" helping with this mode . As of yet i don't have the game but I'll be getting it soon. Good ideas so far peoples. Keep 'em coming.

For the wormhole effect, I'm fairly sure that's not a possible idea.

If you need to check what you can and can't do with the XML, I've done a few mods (none released here though, heh) and can be found normally in the #galciv chatroom at irc.stardock.com if you have any questions.

That effect could be very annoying in the end, but would make it more of the crazy galaxy hitchhikers is set it.
In my opinion hitchhikers is the only space series i have seen that takes things less seriously makes them funny and entertaining. And the movie was horrific compared to the books.   

Another idea... you could research a certain tech that lets you discover that one dude who controls the government of the entire galaxy and make sure that your party always stay in power or something.

Also... The Demolision fleet should be given the ability to attack a planet either destroying it or killing a lot of people.

Yeah, and that ability was supposed to be in Dark Avatar too, but it got cut
