And of course all 304's are going to look the same, its called mass production. If you’re going to build a whole heap of things for the same purpose, what’s the point of making each one different. Not only does it make it more expensive but it’s also a pain in the ass when it comes to spare parts.

I didn't say they looked the same. I'm not that looney. I'm just saying that Prometheus was a prototype of space-faring Tau'ri warships. The mass-produced Daedalus-class is the more refined, re-designed warship.

EDIT2: Though to be honest, they do share a basic shape (with the exception of the Prometheus' 'conning tower')...

But the ships are not related at all. The Daedalus and Prometheus projects were running concurrently, and since the Daedalus ran into some trouble and needed Asgard help in finishing the design as well as donating some technologies, the Prometheus was built first.

Your confused. The Deadie wasn't started until AFTER the Prommie. The Prometheus was an experimental platform, to test all the new tech they had figured out in the last six years (the Prometheus arrived in season six when it was hijacked by the NID). The Prometheus received several of the advanced technologies that the Deadie did, but they were add-ons for the Prommie.

In any case, all the ships built after Prometheus are the same, which is what PaladinStorm was saying. The Deadalus, Odyssey, Korelev, and the Spoiler: Apollo.

Well PaladinStorm, this is the first time I have seen you explain it, and even then, you’re not exactly correct. Redesign and refinement of naval vessels does not involve making large changes to the superstructure. Due to the large number of differences, the Daedalus represents a whole new class. You do have a good point about the conning tower. That thing was an eyesore. The Prometheus was like the model T, all boxy and unsightly and the Daedalus is like a jaguar, sleek and powerful (at least it looks powerful). Pity she cant really take on anything on even terms. Got lucky with the wraith more times than i care to remember, perhaps they should arm the missiles with some MIRV gatebuster warheads with puddle jumper cloaks so the darts cant shoot them down. That would make a big bang .

Hmm... A Daedalus with invisible Mark IX torpedoes. Could work... but there's always the risk of a device not going off, and maybe that's why they don't use them. They did lose 2 nukes on 2 wraith cruisers that one time when they managed to stop the detonations, so I think they're affraid of handing a Mark IX to the Wraith.

Yes there is a mod that is being worked on. It's taken a back seat to the Star Trek mod but I've started working recently on the StarGate models.

That approach suffers from some key flaws. How many gatebusters can we afford to build? How many cloaking devices? Can we build cloaking devices? What about the power supply for those cloaking devices? The Daedalus typically fires missiles in salvos of four or five - can we afford to toss naquadah generators away like that?

Of course, I'm all for just beaming the nukes just outside the Wraith ships to avoid both the interference and the Darts, but perhaps that's impossible.

It was just an idea. Could work in principle, and i sure in time McKay would work out the details...if they hang a lemon over his head . On a different note, hurray for the Stargate mod.
