I have updated my non-english GC2 1.2 directly to 1.31 (stand alone patch from Download section).
So I can't say if that, was i have noticed, is in it since 1.31 or happens since 1.30.
First thing:
In version 1.20 the range abilities of support modules were shown with values as 1.2 sct, 1.4 sct a.s.o.
and would add up to the default 0.9 sct which had every hull type.
And it seems as it add up the values correctly.
Although, sometimes I wonder if this is really the truth, because IIRC ships with a range of 20 sectors couldn't reach all sectors of a gigantic map without additional
starbases.
At the beginning of every game, the range of my terran flaggship, as well as the default colony ship, had both the value of 2.9 sct.
Since I installed version 1.31 the range abilities of the support modules in the ShipDesignWnd are now changed to
0.4 sct, 0.5 sct and so on, and first I thought '...wow another thing has been fixed...'.
But if I take one of the basic support modules with the value of 0.4 sct to any hull, the amount of range points still grows in 1.2 sct steps for the first module, 1.3 for the second and third one, 1.2 for the fourth, 1.3 for the fifth and sixt,1.2 sct for the seventh and so on. And it seems that now the game really using this higher range
amounts so that a ship with a range of 20 sct can reach every edge of the map.
The rounding things are not heavy, but concerning these new range worths, I assume, my
old ship designs in MyGames/GC2/Ship of version 1.2 in game are no longer available, or I have first to research the highest
life support system to see some of it (not all) again.
Also the beginning range of my terran flaggship altered now to the default value of 4.7 sct and the default colony ship has a range of 5.5 sct, nearley twice as before, personally I think that's a little bit too much, also in a gigantic map, or what is your opinion?
Also it makes it nearly meaningless to explore along the Life Support branch, if you get so easy powerful range points by the basic module. Isn't it?
As a risky guy, I cut the GC2 V 1.3 exe and paste in the GC 1.2 exe for testing, and voila! the range amounts are back to lower values.
The light grey field of the range of the flaggship had 'normal' dimensions again.
Was it intended to boost up the ranges with v 1.31?
Second thing:
It seems that every time I start a new game in v 1.31, straightaway at the very beginning of the game, in the first comming up of the quarterly report, it's showing me all minor races that are in the new game (often 5 up to 7) in the civ ranking table/window. Without I had meet one of it, because the game hasn't really start until that point.
May I'm wrong but I don't remember to saw this in v 1.2.
Perhaps this has to do with the greater range focus of my flaggship?
Or is this a contribution to that users, who allways said, that they have never found minor races in their games, so that they can check this now at the beginning of a new game?
BTW I tested both things without Mods.
Beside this two points patch 1.31 is great and mades also modding again a lot easier. Explored also fixings not reported in changelog. Thanks a lot.
Thanks in advance for your reply, and sorry, english is not my native language.
