I do this for Paradox.I send the translation 2006/09/05... with corrections for the "bug" 2006/09/09. But if you have a sort of "road book" with what changes exactly in the new version my mail freecry@free.fr .

Quelles corrections as-tu exactement apportées sur la version officielle? Est-ce uniquement des adaptation à la 1.3 où y-a-t-il autre choses? Ce qui est sur, c'est que Paradox est légalement propriétaire de ces fichiers. Donc il est nécessaire d'avoir leur accord. Si j'ai bien suivi, tu as transmis à Paradox la version corrigée. Peut-être pourrais-tu envoyer un email à CariElf pour lui indiquer ton contact chez Paradox.

Freecry, who has done a non-official french version, has adapted the Paradox french version to the 1.3 and send the appropriate files to Paradox, who have the rights on the official french files. So Paradox should be able to give you an updated version of the french files for 1.3. But I don't know what kind of QA they will do on those files. Maybe they are also waiting a word from Stardock about the need to get updated files, I don't know. 

 

In any case, what will you do for the german version that should have the same problem?

If there are any foreign languages that are not going to be updated to 1.3, I will do the diff to find all the string changes from 1.2 to 1.3 and either post them somewhere here on the forums or recruit people who speak those languages natively to fix them for us.   

If it comes to that, we can post the files that we got the users to fix with the patch. I think that SDC already installs the latest translated file already.

I was not trying to disparage Paradox or any of you who do translation work for them.  However, unless there is a problem with the code, I don't hear about any updates made to the translated files. I did get verification that we have received the updated French files, so if we don't have the updated German files, we should soon.

I haven't any doubt about that. Maybe I haven't correctly exposed what I wanted to say. Maybe it could have been useful to have the both the 1.2 and 1.3 retail patches since the foreign files weren't received by Stardock when the 1.3 patch was available.

I have dowloaded the 1.31 patch and I see that the problem with french files isn't yet corrected. So I will watch when the name of the executable change to see when the problem should be fixed.

Indeed, thats the point to that I also come to conclusion.
Especially in case of the beta-patches.
Download beta patches with SDC if you normaly playing in a foreign language makes, in my opinion, only in one case a real sense.
It is only useful if you change your language settings to english, because you want to test the betas in the english version.
On the other side you should realized that you run the risk to get older files for your localized non-english version as you installed until then.
For concrete example: you had installed version 1.2 german and downloaded the beta 1.3b022 via SDC, you got new english files and a new exe file perhaps new libraries also, but also you got older german data files as you had have before.
I imagine with other languages it is the same?
Condsidering this facts, I also came to the conclusion, that bug- and issue-reports
from non-english beta-versions must be mostly worthless or even misleading for the devs, because the basics are not the right one if it's a hotchpotch of files and datas.
This facts are not a realy problem as long as all concerned people know it.
But some newbies, and not only newbies, with non-english versions maybe 'take it on the chin' if they download via SDC beta-patches in the hope to get the newest version of the game.

Hope this is helpfully for some people If they have to decide 'should I download betas or not'.
Naturally this affects only users of non-english versions. BTW the devs always warning 'download only if you are risky'.

Yes Peace Phoenix that's right. I have checked this a few minutes ago with old files,
the working values are comming now from the english files, and the problem of the
1.2 version that some text files are mixed, is also fixed. This works very fine.

So finaly is it only a problem if someone get old english.str or screens.str files
which not working proper with the new version because missing strings.

Okay, I have learned some 'news' for me and have to qualify my conclusions.

The new 1.31 installer patches correctlty the french files.
